The 2026 edition of the Evesham Regatta for the 1000m races took place on Saturday 2nd May 2026 on the banks of the River Avon in Evesham, Worcestershire. The many rowing clubS and schools that took part were welcomed by Evesham Rowing Regatta chairman Simon Edwards.

The Regatta committee, chaired by Carol Lovelock with Mal Jablonska as Regatta Secretary, along with rowing captain Simon North, had worked tirelessly to get everything ready on time.

The umpires, Sponsors, safety crews, volunteers and marshalls were all thanks for their time and effort over the two day weekend (Sunday saw the shorter 500m races).

The Evesham Regatta is held under the rules of British Rowing and the Rules of Racing, and adheres to the principles of Row Safe.

The Evesham Regata is the first big event of the Summer season always held (weather permitting) on the first weekend in May.

The course for the 1000m races starts upstream of the Abbey road bridge with a staggered start to take respect of the curved course and finishes just before the Workman bridge nearer the town centre. The supporters of the teams shout encouragement from along the banks as well as around the Evesham Rowing Club boathouse. With the courses curve it is important for the coxes or those in the bow seat, who are steering the boat, to keep checking if they are on the centre of their lane. Any straying crews and warned by the umpires around the course.

Saturday was scheduled for the Division 1 & 2 races with a mix of Masters races, Junior races for J14, J16 & J18 races. The boat types range from single sculls, double & quazz sculls and coxed fours and eights.

The rowing clubs competing included the hosts Evesham as well as local rivals Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwick & Worcester. Crews also came from a bit further afield from Bristol Ariel, Bewdley, AB Severn, Stourport, Ross & Bedford. Their were also crews from over the border from Wales including Pengwern, Llandaff & Monmouth. The school crews included those for Magdalen College, Monmouth Comprehensive, Cheltenham College & Cheltenham Ladies College.
