The iconic 100 Club in London hosted a co-headlining evening as part of their Tuesday Blues at the 100 Club. This featuring Spain’s Susan Santos and Birmingham’s Big Wolf Band with support from Banbury’s Get Loose.
With fans for all three bands making an electric evening the venue was ready for some great blues rock music.
First up we had Get Loose with a line-up of Lee Castle (guitar & vocals), Dan Bonas (bass & vocals), Phil Aris (drums), Neil Lewis (keys) & Paul Ashby (harmonica). They were an energetic band, well supported, with great lyrics and vocals from Lee with their sound being blues rock boogie with a bit of an edge. They played a selection of their songs from their new album including the title track ‘Let It Rise’, ‘Sunshines on the Righteous’ and ‘Just My Style’.
They were followed with the first of the co-headliners with Big Wolf Band taking to the stage with a line-up of Jonathan Earp (guitar & vocals), Justin Johnson (guitar & backing vocals), Tim Jones (drums), Arran Shanghavi (keys) and Mike Hatton (bass).
The band have grown a fanbase both in the UK but Europe too and are led by the gritty Jonathan Earp on guitar & vocals who makes light of suffering from the Ehlers Danlos Syndromes (EDS) which are a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue. You wouldn’t know from his energetic performance and great vocals what he has to cope with and had written daily about in May 2025.
The band’s repertoire performed to the 100 Club audience included a range of fast packed blues rock numbers such as ‘Living on Borrowed Time’, Got Me Reeling’ and ‘Valley of the Fallen Kings’ and slower numbers such as ‘If I Ever Loved Another Woman’ with its slower pace blues with wailing guitars and passionate vocals from Jonathan.
The band gave us great multi-harmonies on song such as ‘Heaven’s Got the Blues’ which is a great classic heavy blues song with great powerful vocals from Jonathan, harmonies from Justin & Mike, solid drums from Tim and great accompanying keys from Arran.
One of the standouts since keyboard player Arran has joined the band is the great interplay between him and Jonathan with Arran encouraged to explore his range and vary his keys backing at each gig.
They finished with ‘Empire & a Prayer’ which is a rockier number with great guitars and keys with powerful vocals from Jonathan and Joe Bonamassa’s ‘Oh Beautiful’ with Jonathan playing while walking through the audience to a great climax.
Then we had Spain’s Susan Santos with her passionate singing and great guitarwork and she was joined by Brit Ross Gordon on drums and Italian Costa Tancredi on bass.
Susan plays a left-handed guitar with great stage presence and is self-taught on the guitar and her songs celebrate her abilities as a creative force. She has played around the world including UK, Europe, Mexico and the USA.
She and her band played a lot of songs from her latest album ‘Sonata’ including great riffs and guitar solos showing her huge range of her abilities on songs such as ‘Snakebite’, ‘Rattlesnake’ with its great slide guitar playing and the heavy ‘Hot Rod Lady’. The band gave her great backing on drums and bass guitar with her 12-bar blues style on songs such as ‘Voodoo Wheels’ and she finished with ‘Let It Ride’ with its high intensity driving blues rock sound and great vocals from Susan.
